Carleen has worked with a lot of kids that have persnickety ways. She knows that it can be hard for them. That's how she thought of me, Persnickety Pearson.
If you have persnickety ways, Carleen wants you to know it's okay. She created me to remind all kids to love themselves, even when they are persnickety.

Carleen lives with her daughter and husband in Islip, New York. Islip is on Long Island. They have three dogs, Bella, Jack, and Harley. Long Island has a lot of beaches and farms, and New York City is really close by. Carleen loves lighthouses. The Fire Island Lighthouse is not far from her house, and she likes to visit it.

Carleen is persnickety in her own way. She only eats foods that come from plants. When Carleen is eating with other people, her persnickety way of eating can cause a problem. If that happens, she tells herself to be proud of her persnickety ways because they make her special. After all, there is only one Carleen Newlands...there is only one Persnickety Pearson...and there is only one you.
It's okay if you have some persnickety ways. They make you who you are, and Carleen wouldn't want you to be any other way.
